Greenwich, a town in south-east London, England, is known for its maritime history and connection to the Greenwich Meridian and Greenwich Mean Time. Situated 5.5 miles (8.9 km) east-southeast of Charing Cross, it was once home to the Palace of Placentia and birthplace of notable Tudors like Henry VIII and Elizabeth I.
