Cleaners in Edinburgh: The Questions We Get Most

How much does a cleaner cost per hour in Edinburgh?
£23 an hour as standard, or £18 an hour for Fantastic Club members. That sits mid-range for an insured company service in the city. There is a minimum booking that varies by area, so entering your EH postcode confirms the minimum where you live.
Do I need to be at home while my cleaner works?
No. Most customers are out at work. It is worth being there for ten or fifteen minutes on the first visit to show your cleaner round and explain what matters, then leaving them to it after that.
Can my cleaner keep a set of keys?
Yes, and most regular customers do exactly that. Keys are held under a set keyholding procedure. If you stop the service, they come back by recorded delivery for £12, or your cleaner leaves them at the property on the final visit.
Will I get the same cleaner every time?
On weekly and fortnightly bookings we send the same person whenever your usual day and time stay the same. We will not promise it outright, because cleaners take holidays and fall ill like anyone else. When that happens you are offered a replacement with your priorities already passed on, or you can skip until yours is back. On monthly bookings we cannot assign the same cleaner.
Do you bring cleaning products and equipment?
Your cleaner can bring detergents for a small charge per visit, or use whatever you already have. Equipment such as a hoover, mop and bucket is normally supplied by you, and this varies by area, so it is confirmed when you book. One thing worth checking: without a mop in the property, floors cannot be cleaned.
How many hours should I book?
It depends on the size of the property and how often you book. Frequency matters more than people expect: a home that takes two hours weekly usually needs three hours fortnightly, because dust and limescale build up in between. Add an extra hour to the first visit so your cleaner can learn the property. No survey is needed, even for larger houses.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No. There is no contract and no minimum number of visits. Skip a single visit or stop altogether at no charge, as long as we have 48 hours notice before the next appointment.
Can my cleaner do the ironing or laundry?
Yes, but tell us when you book. Not every cleaner is trained for ironing, so flagging it means we send someone who is and allow enough time. For laundry, set the machine programme yourself so nothing gets damaged.
